Program

Money School

Money School is an award-winning program that that helps individuals gain the knowledge, confidence, and connections to build their financial future. The program is focused on empowering women but all interested individuals are accepted. In 2017, our pilot collaborator, the Elizabeth Freeman Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, received an Innovation Award for the Money School program from the Massachusetts Office of Victims Assistance(MOVA) as a recognition of the groundbreaking work to advance financial independence for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

 

Curriculum:  Money School is organized in 5 core topics, designed to be covered in a 90-minute session.  These include:

All participants of the program get a booklet, which contains all materials plus fillable forms to track income and expenditures, and to create and maintain the budget.  

 

1.      Setting Financial Goals (income, expenses, fixed, variable, long-term, short-term);

2.      Confronting Credit and Debt (credit report, credit score);

3.      Saving for the Future (savings, interest, income maximization resources);

4.      Juggling Finances (budget);

5.      Making Money Count (action plan).
