Economics Across the Curriculum

Our Economics-Across-the-Curriculum approach was successfully utilized in more than 122 classrooms around the country and helped more than 1,314 students improve their knowledge during the four-year pilot period of 2014-2017. This program has been implemented in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Nebraska, and Missouri; as well as school districts in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Miami, St. Louis, and Omaha.

The lessons are designed to be flexible to suit the specific needs of students, providing a variety of topics and lessons that we can offer to the students in your school. The curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Standards. The lessons are interdisciplinary in nature and address standards in ELA, math and social studies. This interdisciplinary approach to learning using real-world situations is authentic and results in long-term retention of the important concepts.

Topics could be introduced directly to the classroom or could be demonstrated as a professional development workshop for teachers. Topics can be merged into existing lessons or taught as stand-alone curriculum in the classroom. The length of time for each topic will determine learning outcomes.

The lessons are available free of charge at the EconLowDown portal. The value of the YouCount! program is in the expert assistance provided in curating the lessons to fit specific curriculum needs of a teacher or a school, demonstrating the lessons, analyzing the outcomes of lesson implementation and impact on students’ knowledge acquisition. There is no cost for the curriculum; our affordable consultant fee is only for curriculum support. The average length of the program at a school is 5-10 lessons.
